Welcome back. Every Thursday we help you plan your Jummah and your weekend across the whole Bay Area Muslim community — every masjid, every background — with what's on, where, and how to show up.

We're now in the first ten days of Muharram, the opening of the new Islamic year, and the Day of Ashura is expected this weekend. It's a time of reflection and remembrance observed — in different ways — right across our communities, and there are gatherings for it from San Jose to Oakland to Pleasanton.

🌙 The Day of Ashura — across the Bay

The tenth of Muharram, Ashura, is expected around Friday–Saturday, June 26–27, pending the moon sighting. It's marked across our communities in their own ways — in remembrance of the household of the Prophet ﷺ and the events of Karbala, and, in the Sunni tradition, with the fast of Ashura. 🕌 Friday — Jummah anchors the weekend

Friday is Jummah. Masjids across the Bay — the Islamic Center of Fremont and ISEB in Fremont, SABA in San Jose, the Yaseen centers in Belmont and Burlingame, Baitul Baseer in Milpitas, the MCA in Santa Clara, MCC East Bay in Pleasanton, ICCNC and Lighthouse in Oakland, among many others — hold Jummah prayers; check your local masjid for khutbah times.
